This is a really pretty walk from Carwinion down to a small rocky beach on the river Helford, it's a liesurely 20 minutes each way.

The start of the walk is next to Carwinion House and Gardens, a 12 acre traditional cornish garden, close to Mawnan Smith.
If you take the road from Mawnan Smith towards Maenporth beach, you'll see Carwinion House on the right hand side, there's normally plenty of parking on the road nearby. You'll see the national trust sign which marks the path to the beach.
The walk takes you down a fairly gentle path ( but quite uneven and rocky, so pushchairs could be a problem). It winds through a lovely wooded area, flanked with fields. In mid April they are full of bluebells.
After about 20 minutes you reach a small, private, rocky beach on the river Helford, which is ideal for a picnic. If you want to explore further you are on the coastal path and go to the left or right. If you head right then eventually you'll reach the ferryboat inn.
